Physics IB DP Course 1st Year
Duration: 80 min Language: English
Service Description
Core Themes and Topics (Year 1 Focus) A. Space, Time, and Motion This theme is almost always taught first as it introduces the "tools" of a physicist, such as measurements, uncertainties, and vectors. A.1 Kinematics: Displacement, distance, velocity, acceleration, and projectile motion. A.2 Forces and Momentum: Newton’s laws of motion, translational equilibrium, and conservation of linear momentum. A.3 Work, Energy, and Power: Energy transfers, conservation of energy, and efficiency. B. The Particulate Nature of Matter Focuses on thermal properties and how they relate to the kinetic theory of gases. B.1 Thermal Energy Transfers: Specific heat capacity, phase changes, and latent heat. B.2 Greenhouse Effect: Earth's energy balance and radiation. B.3 Gas Laws: Ideal gases, moles, and the pressure-volume-temperature relationship. C. Wave Behaviour Introduces oscillations and the fundamental properties of waves. C.1 Simple Harmonic Motion (SHM): Conditions for SHM, oscillations, and graphs of motion. C.2 Wave Model: Transverse and longitudinal waves, and the electromagnetic spectrum.
